چکیده

It is now well known that mode-coupling effects associated with certain secondary effects generate higher order correlations in cosmic microwave background ~CMB! temperature anisotropies, beyond the two-point function. In order to extract such a non-Gaussian signal at the three-point level, we suggest a two-point statistic in the form of an angular power spectrum involving correlations between squared temperature and temperature anisotropies. This power spectrum contains compressed information from the bispectrum and can be easily measured in data with the same techniques that have been considered for the measurement of the usual temperature-temperature anisotropy power spectrum. We study the proposed power spectrum resulting from the non-Gaussian signal generated by correlations involved with gravitational lensing angular deflections in CMB and the Sunyaev-Zel’dovich ~SZ! effect due to large scale pressure fluctuations. Using the Planck frequency cleaned CMB and SZ maps, the CMB-SZ power spectrum provides a direct estimate of the cross-power between lensing angular deflections and the SZ effect. Through an optimal filter applied to the squared CMB map, the proposed statistic allows one to obtain all information from the lensing-SZ bispectrum. The observational measurement of the lensing-SZ cross-correlation is useful to understand the relation between large scale structure pressure and dark matter fluctuations.

CMB temperature bispectrum induced by cosmic strings

The cosmic microwave background (CMB) bispectrum of the temperature anisotropies induced by a network of cosmic strings is derived for small angular scales, under the assumption that the principal cause of temperature fluctuations is the Gott-Kaiser-Stebbins effect. We provide analytical expressions for all isosceles triangle configurations in Fourier space. Their overall amplitude is amplified...

Non-Gaussian aspects of thermal and kinetic Sunyaev-Zel’dovich effects

We discuss non-Gaussian effects associated with the local large-scale structure contributions to the cosmic microwave background ~CMB! anisotropies through the thermal Sunyaev-Zel’dovich ~SZ! effect. The nonGaussianities associated with the SZ effect arise from the existence of a significant four-point correlation function in large scale pressure fluctuations. Using the pressure trispectrum cal...

Cross-correlation studies with CMB polarization maps

The free-electron population during the reionized epoch rescatters the cosmic microwave background ~CMB! temperature quadrupole and generates a now well-known polarization signal at large angular scales. While this contribution has been detected in the temperature-polarization cross power spectrum measured with Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe data, due to the large cosmic variance associat...

Improved simulation of non–Gaussian temperature and polarization CMB maps

We describe an algorithm to generate temperature and polarization maps of the cosmic microwave background radiation containing non–Gaussianity of arbitrary local type. We apply an optimized quadrature scheme that allows us to predict and control integration accuracy, speed up the calculations, and reduce memory consumption by an order of magnitude. We generate 1000 non– Gaussian CMB temperature...

Contributions of Point Extragalactic Sources to the Cosmic Microwave Background Bispectrum

All the analyses of Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) temperature maps up–to–date show that CMB anisotropies follow a Gaussian distribution. On the other hand, astrophysical foregrounds which hamper the detection of the CMB angular power spectrum, are not Gaussian distributed on the sky. Therefore, they should give a sizeable contribution to the CMB bispectrum. In fact, the first year data of t...
